Acentra Health is proud to have been selected by the Alabama Medicaid Agency through a competitive recompete bid to continue providing Medical and Quality Review (MQR) services. The award includes an initial two-year contract with renewal options. This partnership extension is focused on ensuring Alabama Medicaid beneficiaries receive appropriate, high-quality care while supporting effective stewardship of program resources.
Acentra Health has performed medical and quality reviews for Alabama Medicaid since 2021, supporting over one million Medicaid beneficiaries through efficient, evidence-based review processes. The program encompasses a broad range of services, including prior authorization, hospice reviews, long-term care and other institutional reviews, Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID), Swing/Post-Hospital Extended Care (PHEC) beds, and inpatient psychiatric care. The new award expands Acentra Health's scope to include dental and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) prior authorization reviews.
This recompete win reflects Acentra Health's strong record of performance serving the state of Alabama and provides continuity for the Medicaid beneficiaries and providers who rely on these services. Through timely, high-quality clinical reviews, operational excellence, innovative technology, and close collaboration with the Alabama Medicaid Agency and provider community, Acentra Health has consistently worked to improve the efficiency and quality of the review process.
Acentra Health's dedicated Alabama team includes experienced registered nurses, physical therapists, social workers, and other professionals who support Medicaid members and healthcare providers across the state. The team's focus on service has helped eliminate inherited backlogs, exceed service-level requirements, strengthen provider relationships, and establish a trusted partnership with the Alabama Medicaid Agency.
As part of the continued partnership, Acentra Health is also working with the Alabama Medicaid Agency to further modernize clinical workflows and enhance the provider and state user experience. Planned expansion of Acentra Health's Atrezzo® platform for hospice and long-term services and supports (LTSS) services is designed to improve access, efficiency, and transparency across these review processes.
By continuing and expanding this work, Acentra Health will build on its experience delivering timely, clinically informed reviews while partnering with the Alabama Medicaid Agency to promote appropriate access to care and responsible stewardship of Medicaid resources.
The award also reinforces Acentra Health's broader role as a trusted partner to state Medicaid agencies nationwide, combining clinical expertise, operational experience, and transformational healthcare technology to help government healthcare programs improve outcomes for the priority populations they serve.
